One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living.  We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon--instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.

Why are we such fools--such tragic fools?

"How strange it is, our little procession of life!" wrote Stephen Leacock.  "The child says, 'When I am a big boy.'  But what is that?  The big boy says, 'When I grow up.'  And then, grown up, he says, 'When I get married.'  But to be married, what is that after all?  The thought changes to 'When I'm able to retire.'  And then, when retirement comes, he looks back over the landscape traversed; a cold wind seems to sweep over it; somehow he has missed it all, and it is gone.  Life, we learn too late, is in the living, in the tissue of every day and hour."

from Dale Carnegie's How to Stop Worrying and Start Living.

Don't miss it!  Here's to a Happy New Year!

So I finally downloaded Napster today.  oh...my...gosh.  Now I see what all the fuss is about.  It's amazing.  I mean...I've heard about it for months...on the news, in the papers, on tv...everywhere.  And I knew what napster was and what it enabled people to do.  But it just didn't sink in.  It has now.  Because here I sit, scarfing down some leftover Thai, thinking of all the killer songs I haven't heard in years, pulling them out of the *ether* and setting my speakers ablaze.  I'm finding everything I look for...Concrete Blonde's Mexican Moon, Billy Idol's Rebel Yell, Ray Lynch's Celestial Soda Pop Remix, 4 Non Blonde's Whats Up, Kate Gibson's Dance Me to the End of Love.  This is very cool.  Very cool indeed.

Sweet!  The cabana got an award.

I added another color scheme.  I think I like it.  Check it out.

I posted another batch of costa rica pictures.  This will probably be the last set.  New pics start on page 10.  Thanks go out to Henry and Dave.

I must learn flash.  I must learn flash.  I must learn flash.  I know I can.  I know I can.  I know I can.

Groovy.  Guaranteed to make your foot tap.

This is quite possibly the best site I've ever seen.

May misfortune follow you the rest of your life,
but never catch up.

We've picked up a few customers lately.

It's good to be back home.  Silicon Valley and San Francisco are cool places to visit, though.  Everywhere you look is another tech company.  In fact, Ariba is right next door to Ventro and Sun.  SGI is down the street.  As well as Lycos and Verisign and...well, the list goes on forever.  But all tech aside, if there was one thing I could bring back, it would be a few of the trees!  They're georgeous and they're everywhere.  Got to spend a little bit of time (read one night) in San Francisco.  Stayed in the 39 story Marriot downtown.  Meg and I will be living over there for a couple of months soon.  It'll be cool to see more of the area.

What an awesome site.

18 more pictures in the costa rica picture gallery.  The new pictures start on page 6.  I've also redesigned the front page of each gallery to display all the comments that have been posted in that gallery.  This makes it easier to check for new comments.

Hilarious.  This one, too.

I forgot to turn in my rent check this morning.  I left my wallet at home with my work ID card.  And one of the *less dependable* members of our team is already trying to weasle his way out of more work.  It is so monday.  On the flip side . . . it's a beautiful chilly day, I feel great and Christmas is my favorite time of the year.  And I could careless whether my rent is late.  So the heck with monday . . . it's going to be a great day.
