Some people have the life. I think I need to start consulting.

Yes, I'm still alive! Life has just been incredibly busy lately. Good...but busy. I don't think I ever want to build a house, rebuild a house, get caught in a dot com meltdown, change jobs, file a tax return like the one I just filed, have a baby and move...all within 6 months...ever again. I like change...I really do...but sheesh...

Thankfully, the waters are starting to calm.

Duncan is doing great. There's nothing like a smiling baby. I mean there's really nothing like it. But there's also nothing like a crying baby. This is both the most rewarding and most difficult road I've traveled.

They finished our house. Really! About a month ago. All told, it took them two attempts...and a year, almost to the day. But we're very happy with it. So we're adjusting to the homeowner thing now. I think it really sunk in when we bought our lawn mower.

Jibe is cool. It's nice to be back in the bits and bytes. Last week I wrote a Java servlet container and a lightweight web server. Granted it's not completely HTTP and J2EE compliant. Yet. But nonetheless, it was very cool. Nothing beats doing for learning. You can read, draw, diagram, study, debate, theorize and contemplate all you want. But I'll take *doing* any day of the week. Sorry, but I just don't dig sitting around in meetings all day listening to much ado about nothing.

And last and least...I've got road runner again! And my area isn't over-subscribed. Goodbye 5Kbps. Life is definitely on the up again.
